Villa Olmo

The palace is built in a neoclassic style in the XVIII century and finished in 1812. It was designed by the italian architect Simone Cantoni for the dukes Odescalchi. Nowdays Villa Olmo is used for exhibitions and cultural events.
Opening hours: from Tuesday to Sunday 10–18, on Monday is closed.

San Fedele church

The San Fedele church was built in the VII century and it his of early cristian origins. It is situated in the center of Como, in a homonymous square. The church has some important pieces of art like 2 stoups with lions dated to the VII-IX centuries, traces of frescoes of the XIII-XIV centuries. There are also frescoes “the Virgin’s marriage,”Nativity,” “Adoration.”

Cathedral of Como

The Cathedral was begun in 1394 and finished in 1744. It is dedicated to the Virgin Maria. Its facade and naves were built in a gothic style.

The museum is dedicated to the italian scientist Alessandro Volta and his inventions. There are different devices, machines, instruments which were used for his research work, wich led to the invention of the battery.

The Saint Abbondio church

The Saint Abbondio church represents an important example of Romanesque architecture in Lombardy and it is a masterpiece by the local craftsmen “Magistri Cumacini” (craftsmen of the lake which school began in the Middle Age). The early cristian origins of this church is dated to the fifth century.
Brunate
Brunate is called the balcony of the Pre-Alpes. From its panoramic point you can see the valley Padana and the Apennines. The other panoramic point is the Voltiano lighthouse, situated on the peak of Monte Tre Croce. It was built in 1927 for the centenary anniversary of Alessandro Volta’s death (1827).
